Being an effective discipler takes time and commitment that goes beyond the classroom. One way of doing that is helping your students see that the church and serving in the church should be a central part of their lives. Model service for them and with them as a natural outgrowth of love for Christ.
Therefore, provide opportunities of service for your students. After a baking party, deliver the delicious results to shut-ins. Take your students caroling at Christmastime. Weed the church flowerbeds in the summer. Check with your pastor for a special missions project your class could do. Take students to visit kids who have been absent.
If you are willing to invest in the lives of your students, you will reap great rewards.
